reactor
Atomic energy source
A reactor is a container or apparatus in which a controlled reaction takes place.
Most often this means a nuclear reactor, where atomic fission generates heat for power: The plant's reactor went critical.
In chemistry, a reactor is a vessel where chemical reactions occur under controlled conditions.
Someone who reacts to events rather than initiating action may also be called a reactor: He's not a planner—he's a reactor.
