Public address systems are electronic setups for amplifying sound to large audiences or across wide areas—speakers at airports announcing gates, microphones at rallies, intercoms in schools.
The term is often abbreviated to PA: The principal's voice crackled over the PA.
Any venue where one voice needs to reach many ears likely has one.
