paging

Broadcast summoning of someone

Paging is calling for someone, originally through a public address system: Paging Dr. Smith.

The word comes from the messenger boys called pages who would summon people in hotels and hospitals.

In computing, paging refers to moving data between main memory and storage in fixed-size blocks called pages—a technical process that enables systems to handle more data than physical memory allows.
