propositions

Statements needing proof

Propositions are statements put forward for consideration or debate—claims that can be true or false.

In logic, a proposition is the content of a declarative sentence.

In business, a value proposition is what makes an offer worthwhile.

To proposition someone is to make a proposal, especially a sexual one: He propositioned her at the bar.

The noun carries this sense too: She rejected his proposition.
