nuclear envelope
Nucleus's double membrane
The nuclear envelope is the double membrane surrounding the nucleus of a eukaryotic cell, separating the genetic material from the cytoplasm.
It contains pores that regulate the passage of molecules between nucleus and cytoplasm.
During cell division, the nuclear envelope breaks down and reforms around the separated chromosomes.
