orcs

Brutish fantasy warriors

Orcs are a fictional race of brutish, warlike humanoids, most famously from J.R.R.

Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium, where they serve as foot soldiers of evil.

The concept has spread throughout fantasy literature, films, and games, where orcs typically appear as savage, tribal creatures opposed to elves and humans: The party encountered a band of orcs in the mountain pass.

In online discourse, orc sometimes serves as dehumanizing slang for enemy combatants or people perceived as mindlessly aggressive.
