dwarf

Make seem tiny

A dwarf is a person of unusually small stature, or in folklore, a small humanoid creature often associated with mining, metalwork, and underground realms.

The word extends to anything notably smaller than typical: a dwarf planet, dwarf varieties of fruit trees.

As a verb, to dwarf something is to make it seem small by comparison: The skyscraper dwarfs the surrounding buildings.

The plural is dwarfs or dwarves, the latter popularized by Tolkien's fantasy novels.
