newton-meter

Twist strength measure

A newton-meter is a unit of torque—the rotational force applied around an axis.

One newton-meter equals the force of one newton applied at a perpendicular distance of one meter from the pivot point.

Engine specifications commonly list torque in newton-meters: The motor produces 350 newton-meters of torque.

Also spelled newton-metre (British).
