calibrator

Measurement accuracy tool

A calibrator is a device or substance used to calibrate instruments—to check, adjust, or standardize their measurements against a known reference.

In laboratory settings, calibrators are solutions of known concentration used to set up analytical equipment: Run the calibrator before testing patient samples.

A person who performs calibration work may also be called a calibrator.
