pound-force
Gravitational weight measure
Pound-force is a unit of force in the imperial system, equal to the force exerted by gravity on one pound of mass at Earth's surface.
It distinguishes force from mass, since the pound can measure either: a pound-force accelerates a one-pound mass at about 32 feet per second squared.
Engineers use it in contexts where metric systems would use newtons.
