A monstrosity is something shockingly ugly, malformed, or offensive to the senses.
The word often describes buildings or other large creations that violate aesthetic norms: That new shopping center is an absolute monstrosity.
It can also refer to something outrageously wrong or unjust: The verdict was a monstrosity of the legal system.
Less commonly, monstrosity describes a deformed creature or birth defect, though this usage now sounds dated and callous.
