minor prophet

Small-book biblical foreteller

A minor prophet is one of twelve Old Testament prophets—Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi—whose books are shorter than those of the major prophets (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel).

The designation refers to length, not importance.

By extension, a minor prophet is anyone whose insights or warnings go relatively unheeded: He was a minor prophet of the environmental movement, largely ignored in his time.
