major prophet
Old Testament seer
A major prophet is one of the Hebrew Bible's four great prophetic figures—Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel—distinguished from the twelve minor prophets not by importance but by the length of their books.
The term applies both to the prophets themselves and to the biblical books bearing their names: She's studying the major prophets this semester.
