midships
Between bow, stern
Midships refers to the middle section of a ship or boat, between bow and stern.
As an adverb, it means toward or at this central position: The cargo was stowed midships.
In nautical commands, midships! or amidships! orders the helm to center position.
The fuller form amidships is more common in formal contexts.
