left fielder
Diamond's far corner
A left fielder is the defensive player in baseball or softball who covers left field—the outfield area to the left of center when viewed from home plate.
The position is traditionally considered less demanding than center or right field, as fewer balls are hit there and throws to third base are shorter.
A strong arm is less critical than for other outfielders.
