foul line
Free-throw shooting spot
A foul line is a boundary marking in sports that separates fair from foul territory.
In baseball, two foul lines extend from home plate through first and third bases to the outfield wall—balls landing outside them are foul.
In basketball, the foul line (or free-throw line) is where players stand to shoot uncontested after certain fouls.
