platoon
Lieutenant's combat group
A platoon is a military unit typically comprising two to four squads, usually commanded by a lieutenant.
The term extends to any small organized group acting together: a platoon of lawyers, the offensive platoon.
In baseball, to platoon is to alternate players at a position based on matchups: They platoon him against left-handed pitchers.
