jumping jack

Arms-and-legs calisthenics

A jumping jack is a calisthenic exercise performed by jumping from a standing position with arms at the sides to a position with legs spread and arms raised overhead, then back again in rhythm.

The movement resembles a child's toy of the same name—a jointed figure that spreads its limbs when a string is pulled.

We did fifty jumping jacks to warm up.
