termites
Colony eats houses
Termites are small social insects that live in colonies and feed on wood and other plant matter.
They cause significant structural damage to buildings by eating wooden components from the inside out, often undetected until the damage is severe.
Termites are sometimes called white ants, though they're more closely related to cockroaches.
The inspector found termite damage in the basement.
