subdural hematoma
Bleeding beneath skull
A subdural hematoma is a collection of blood between the brain and its outermost protective membrane, usually caused by head trauma that tears veins.
Blood accumulates slowly, pressing on brain tissue.
Symptoms may appear immediately or develop over days to weeks: headache, confusion, weakness, slurred speech.
Acute cases require emergency surgery to relieve pressure.
