Irrigation flow controller
A headgate is a gate controlling water flow at the entrance to a canal, irrigation ditch, or other water channel.
Opening or closing the headgate regulates how much water enters the system: The farmer opened the headgate to flood the fields.
In mining, a headgate is the main entry to a section of an underground mine.
