head collar

Equine face harness

A head collar is a halter-like device that fits around a horse's or dog's head, used for leading or restraining the animal.

On horses, it's the basic equipment for handling in the stable.

On dogs, it loops around the muzzle and behind the ears, giving the handler control of the head: The trainer recommended a head collar for leash-pulling.
