round pen
Circular horse enclosure
A round pen is a circular enclosure used for training horses, typically 40 to 60 feet in diameter with high solid walls.
The shape eliminates corners where a horse might evade a trainer and keeps the animal moving in continuous circles.
Trainers use round pens for groundwork, lunging, and establishing communication with young or untrained horses: We started the colt's training in the round pen.
