choke chain
Constricting dog collar
A choke chain is a loop of chain used as a dog collar, designed to tighten around the neck when the dog pulls or the handler gives a corrective jerk.
The discomfort discourages pulling on the leash.
Training methods using choke chains have fallen out of favor as understanding of animal behavior has advanced.
Also called a choke collar.
