horse harness
Draft animal gear
A horse harness is the system of straps, bands, and fittings used to attach a horse to a vehicle or load for pulling.
Unlike a saddle and bridle for riding, a harness distributes the force of pulling across the horse's chest and shoulders: He backed the mare into the shafts and buckled the harness.
The components vary by task—a simple breast collar for light work, a full collar harness for heavy draft.
