geofence

Digital location boundary

A geofence is a virtual boundary around a real-world geographic area, used to trigger actions when a device enters or exits.

Smartphones can use geofences to send notifications, track location, or automate tasks: The app reminds me to buy milk when I geofence near the grocery store.

As a verb, to geofence is to set up such a boundary or restrict something within one.
