GPS receivers
Satellite position devices
GPS receivers are devices that detect signals from satellites to determine precise location on Earth.
Found in smartphones, car navigation systems, and dedicated handheld units, they calculate position by measuring the time signals take to arrive from multiple satellites.
The hiker's GPS receiver showed they were two miles from the trailhead.
