lockdown
Mandatory shelter-in-place
A lockdown is a security protocol confining people to a location during a threat—schools lock down during active shooter situations, prisons during disturbances.
The term gained broader currency during the COVID-19 pandemic for restrictions keeping people home: The city went into lockdown for three months.
Extended, it describes any enforced period of restriction: My parents put me on lockdown after I crashed the car.
