followspot
Stage tracking beam
A followspot is a powerful theater spotlight mounted on a stand and operated manually to track performers as they move across the stage.
The operator, also called a followspot, pans and tilts the light to keep the beam centered on the subject: The followspot caught her as she entered from stage left.
Followspots typically produce a tight, bright circle that isolates a performer from the surrounding stage picture.
