douser

One stopping fires

A douser is someone or something that douses—extinguishes or drenches.

A firefighter dousing flames is a douser, as is a bucket of water thrown on a campfire.

The word also refers to someone who practices dowsing, the folk art of locating underground water using a forked stick or rods: The farmer hired a douser to find a good spot for the well.
