residency
Where one resides
Residency is the state of living in a particular place, often with legal implications: You need to establish residency before you can vote here.
It also refers to a period of advanced medical training in a specialty, completed after medical school: She's doing her residency in pediatric surgery.
A residency can also be an artist's temporary appointment at an institution: a writer's residency at the university.
