environs
The surrounding region
Environs are the areas surrounding a place—its neighborhood, outskirts, or nearby regions: Paris and its environs, the environs of the university.
The word is slightly formal and almost always plural.
It emphasizes the zone around something rather than the thing itself: We explored the castle and its environs.
