bounds

Jumps or limits

Bounds are limits or boundaries—the edges of what is permitted or possible.

To stay within bounds is to remain acceptable; to go out of bounds is to exceed limits or enter forbidden territory.

In sports, bounds mark the playing area: The ball went out of bounds.

As a verb, bounds means leaps: The dog bounds across the yard.

Something that knows no bounds is limitless: Her generosity knows no bounds.
