enteric
Of the bowels
Enteric is a medical and scientific adjective meaning relating to or affecting the intestines.
Enteric diseases are those that attack the digestive system, particularly the small intestine.
In pharmacology, an enteric coating on a pill or capsule prevents it from dissolving until it reaches the intestines, protecting either the stomach lining from the medication or the medication from stomach acid.
The enteric nervous system regulates digestion independently of the brain.
