electromyograph
Muscular activity monitor
An electromyograph is a medical instrument that records the electrical activity of muscles.
Electrodes placed on or in muscle tissue detect signals that reveal how muscles respond to nerve stimulation, helping diagnose neuromuscular disorders: The electromyograph showed abnormal activity in her forearm.
The recording it produces is an electromyogram; the procedure is electromyography.
