electromyogram

Nerve-muscle electrical readout

An electromyogram is a recording of the electrical activity produced by muscles, used to diagnose neuromuscular disorders.

The test measures how muscles respond to nerve signals, helping identify conditions like muscular dystrophy, carpal tunnel syndrome, or nerve damage: The electromyogram showed abnormal muscle response in her forearm.

Often abbreviated EMG.
