front page

Where headlines live

The front page is the first page of a newspaper, where the most important or attention-grabbing stories appear.

By extension, front-page as an adjective describes anything newsworthy enough to merit such prominent placement: The scandal became front-page news overnight.

As a verb, to front-page a story is to feature it prominently.

The term carries connotations of significance, urgency, or sensationalism—if something makes the front page, it matters to a lot of people.
