double-decker

Bus with stairs

A double-decker is something with two levels stacked vertically.

Most commonly it refers to a bus with two floors of passenger seating, iconic in London: We rode the double-decker through the city.

The term extends to sandwiches with three slices of bread creating two layers of filling, beds stacked as bunks, and other two-tiered structures.
