dispatch box

Minister's speaking platform

A dispatch box is a container for carrying official documents and correspondence, especially the red leather cases used by British government ministers.

In the House of Commons, the dispatch boxes are the wooden cases on the central table where ministers and opposition leaders stand to speak: The Prime Minister rose to the dispatch box to address the House.
