despatch

Send with urgency

Despatch is the British spelling of dispatch.

Both spellings cover all senses: to send off quickly despatch a messenger, to kill efficiently, or the noun meaning a message or the act of sending.

The spelling with 'e' appears in formal British contexts—government documents, military communications—but dispatch dominates in American English and increasingly in British usage as well.
