decile
Population distribution segment
A decile is one of ten equal parts into which a statistical distribution can be divided.
If you rank test scores from lowest to highest and divide them into ten groups, each group is a decile.
Someone in the top decile of earners makes more than 90% of earners.
The term appears frequently in discussions of income distribution, academic performance, and financial analysis.
