decimal places

After the point

Decimal places are the digits that appear after a decimal point in a number.

The first decimal place is tenths, the second hundredths, the third thousandths, and so on.

Precision increases with more decimal places: 3.1 has one decimal place, 3.14 has two, 3.14159 has five.

To round to a certain number of decimal places is to limit precision: Round your answer to two decimal places.
