quartile
Data distribution divider
A quartile is one of three values that divide a data set into four equal parts.
The first quartile marks the 25th percentile, the second the 50th (the median), and the third the 75th.
Quartiles appear frequently in statistics and standardized testing: Her score fell in the top quartile.
The range between the first and third quartiles is the interquartile range.
