quantile
Statistical boundary marker
A quantile divides a distribution of values into equal portions.
The median is a quantile that splits data in half; quartiles divide into fourths, percentiles into hundredths.
In statistics, quantiles help describe where a value falls relative to others: Her score was in the 95th percentile.
The term covers any such division point.
