Hundredth-based ranking measure
A percentile is a value on a scale of one hundred that indicates the percentage of a distribution that falls at or below it.
If a student scores in the 90th percentile on a standardized test, that student performed as well as or better than 90 percent of test-takers.
Percentiles are commonly used in education, healthcare, and statistics to show relative standing within a group.
Her height is in the 75th percentile for her age.
