crabapple
Small sour fruit
A crabapple is a small, sour apple from any of several wild or ornamental apple trees.
The fruits are too tart to eat raw but make excellent jellies and preserves.
Crabapple trees are often planted for their showy spring blossoms rather than their fruit.
Informally, a crabapple is a grouchy, ill-tempered person: Don't be such a crabapple.
