tolerant
Open to others
Tolerant describes a willingness to accept differences—in beliefs, behaviors, or people—without interference or complaint.
A tolerant society allows diverse viewpoints.
Tolerant can also mean able to endure or withstand: plants tolerant of drought, patients tolerant of a medication.
The word sometimes carries faint criticism, implying passive acceptance rather than genuine embrace: He was tolerant of her habits but never quite approved.
