McIntosh

Tart Canadian apple

McIntosh is a variety of red apple with tender white flesh and a distinctive tart flavor, popular in North America for eating fresh and making applesauce.

The name also refers to a classic line of Apple computers, the Macintosh, whose spelling was altered to avoid trademark conflict with the fruit.

McIntosh apples bruise easily but make excellent cider.
