octave
Scale's full reach
An octave is the interval between one musical pitch and another with double or half its frequency—the distance from one C to the next C, for instance.
Notes an octave apart sound like higher or lower versions of the same note.
The term extends to any set of eight: in poetry, an octave is an eight-line stanza, particularly the first eight lines of a sonnet.
