cement board
Waterproof wall backing
Cement board is a flat building material made of cement reinforced with fibers, used as a substrate for tile in wet areas like bathrooms and kitchens.
Unlike drywall, it resists moisture and won't deteriorate from water exposure: We installed cement board behind the shower tile.
Also called backer board.
